So, I know it's been a few days (well, 40. But who's counting?), but there's been a really good reason. You see, I woke up this morning no longer in the ranks of the single men. Over the last year or so, the one person who lights up my life, who completes me (hey, it's a cliche, but it's true) and I have been planning our wedding, herding all the cats and generally trying to make sure that things go off without a hitch. And did it ever. This weekend could not have been better if we had scripted it.
We had an outdoor wedding. Specifically on Signer's Island on the National Mall. The wedding was on the anniversary of the day we met and where we had our first kiss. We were a little leery of having an outdoor ceremony on the weekend before Thanksgiving, but the weather could not have been better. Clear skies, low 60's, and all the leaves were pretty much still on the trees. We had a small service, only immediate family, a few friends who were in the wedding and a reverend from a local Unitarian church. The ceremony was short, simple, intimate and very, well, nice. We wrote our own vows and mostly got through them (there were a few moments when we both got a little leeky).
Afterwards, we walked around the Mall, having photos taken of us and the various momuments. Then, we went to the reception and had a great time with the band, our friends and family and the food. We got home around midnight last night and now we're packing for the honeymoon.
Which brings me to the other part of this post. We are heading to New Zealand for the next month for our honeymoon. We plan to do quite a bit of hiking and a few other things. But, for obvious reasons, I don't think I'm going to be posting a lot until January. I'm also turning off all trackbacks and comments (excepting this post) to try and cut down on the spamming. Until then, have fun, place safe and see you later!
