11 string bass

I've seen a nine string bass from John (F# to B-flat). Now here's an eleven string bass (F# to A-flat, I would guess). I can't imagine trying to play this; just the effort of trying to mute the extra strings would seem to defeat any joy of playing.

The 11 string bass is tuned from C#00(17Hz) up to Eb(1/2 step below a guitar's high e string).Your F#-Ab is not too far off ,however ,I 'd like to know where you are getting the high Ab string from.

Check out adlerguitars.com for more on the subcontra bass . Jauqo III-X conceived the .165 F# and the C# .195, currently made by S.I.T. strings.Keep in mind 11 string basses (there's more on the way) will have to rely on the above mentioned string source .Mike Adler is the first to create such an instrument . My choice of using a .009 Bb string and a .007 Eb string seems to be catching on. Going from a .195 to .007 string on the same instrument takes a little getting used.
Thanks ,
Garry

John would be the better person to contact. My understanding is that the highest two strings are actually regular guitar strings, with sufficient additional length to fit the bass neck.
